Uses for Ranch Seasoning Mix
Ranch Seasoning Mix can be used for a multitude of recipes.
For dinner tonight, we are having Chicken Bacon Ranch Pasta, however, we did not have ranch, and I did not buy any at the grocery store. So, I made this Ranch Seasoning Mix to help us have a delicious dinner tonight.
So, in lieu of not having any bottled Ranch, I decided to make it myself. As homemade Ranch tastes SO much better than any in a bottle, it was exciting to make this recipe.
Ranch Dressing is easy to make and is then stored in the fridge for quite some time. To make Ranch Dressing, you firstly mix together 1 tablespoon Ranch Seasoning Mix with 1/2 cup mayonnaise OR Greek yogurt and 1/2 cup milk. Once mixed together, store it in an airtight container for up to 30 days.
Additionally, you can also stock up on these Ranch Seasoning Mix packets, instead of making it yourself. Homemade from scratch is just so much tastier and without all of the preservatives added.
Below is a list of the ingredients in the Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Mix:
Maltodextrin is a polysaccharide that is used as a food additive. It is produced from vegetable starch by partial hydrolysis and is usually found as a white hygroscopic spray-dried powder.
Monosodium Glutamate a compound that occurs naturally as a breakdown product of proteins and is used as a flavor enhancer in food (although itself tasteless). A traditional ingredient in Asian cooking, it was originally obtained from seaweed but is now mainly made from bean and cereal protein.
Onion * DRIED
Lactic Acid is an organic acid. It has a molecular formula CH3CH(OH)COOH. It is white in the solid state and it is miscible with water.
Calcium Lactate is used in medicine, mainly to treat calcium deficiencies; and as a food additive with E number of E327. Some cheese crystals consist of calcium lactate.
Calcium Stearate is a carboxylate salt of calcium, classified as a calcium soap. The salt is a component of some lubricants, surfactants, as well as many foodstuffs.

Xanthan Gum a substance produced by bacterial fermentation or synthetically and used in foods as a gelling agent and thickener.
Carboxymethylcellulose is used as a viscosity modifier or thickener, and to stabilize emulsions in various products, both food and non-food. Additionally, it is used to treat dry eyes, and is used to treat eye irritation in liquid form.
Gar Gum is made from legumes called guar beans. It’s a type of polysaccharide, or long chain of bonded carbohydrate molecules. Guar gum is frequently used as a food additive in many processed foods.

Artificial and Natural Flavors
Healthline.com has an amazing article that lists all of the FDA approved Natural Flavors and Artificial Flavors they use within the food industry in the United States. Out of the dozen, a few have links to almond, which scares me as I am allergic to almonds.
Because of the “trivial” amount, less than 2% on the ingredient list, the specific “Natural Flavors” then do not need to be listed. This is one of the main reasons, once I was aware of my food allergies, that I have switched to making spices and seasoning blends from scratch.
I just do not want to have to use my EpiPen.
1/2 cup dry buttermilk powder
2 tablespoons dried parsley
1 tablespoon dried garlic powder
2 teaspoons dried onion powder
1 teaspoon onion flakes
2 teaspoons dill
1 teaspoon chives
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoons pepper
1/2 teaspoons sugar
1. Firstly, place a medium bowl onto the countertop to place all of the ingredients into.
2. Secondly, measure and then add the dry buttermilk powder to the bowl.
3. Thirdly, measure and add the dried parsley to the bowl.
4. Next, measure and then add the dried garlic powder to the bowl.
5. Then, measure and add the dried onion powder to the bowl.
6. Measure and then add the dried dill to the bowl.
7. Next, measure and then add the dried onion flakes to the bowl.
8. Then measure and add the dried chives to the bowl.
We did not have any dried chives, so this step was skipped.
9. Then measure and add the salt to the bowl.
I found these adorable 10-oz glass jars to hold our salt, pepper and sugar that is used regularly. They sit on the stovetop shelf and are just adorable.
10. Then measure and add the pepper to the bowl.
11. Then, measure and add the sugar to the bowl.
12. Finally, use a spoon and mix the ingredients together, then place it into an airtight container for storage.
To store the Ranch Seasoning Mix, and then place the jar into the fridge where it can store for up to 1 month.
In addition to making Ranch dressing from scratch, you can also make a Ranch Dip from scratch.
To make the Ranch Dip, you firstly mix 2 tablespoons Ranch Seasoning Mix with 16-oz sour cream OR Greek yogurt.
Once mixed, let it rest in the container in the fridge for 1 hour.
In the 1 hour, the ingredients will then come together to make a delicious dip for vegetables or other snacks.
