Boiling an egg
Boiling eggs can be the easiest job, or one of the hardest to get done.
Fresh eggs are the easiest to use for making the Perfect Boiled eggs. “Old Eggs”, or those bought over a week ago, can make the shells very difficult to peel off.
For a soft-boiled egg, boil it for 4-5 minutes.
for a medium boiled egg, boil it for 7-8 minutes.
For a hard-boiled egg, boil it for 9-12 minutes.
Hard boiled eggs are good for salads, potato salads, deviled eggs, breakfast and more.

Boil a Perfect Egg Recipe
Ingredients to Boil a Perfect Egg
- 6-Quart Pot
- Water
- Eggs
- Ice
- Large Bowl

Boil a Perfect Egg Directions
1. Add raw eggs to the 6-Quart pot. Make sure the eggs are FRESH and just bought.
The fresher the better.
If the eggs are old, the shells will be difficult to come off or will come of in tiny pieces peeling off parts of the eggs with it.

2. Fill a 6-Quart pot with cool water and then place it on the stove. Make sure the eggs are fully covered with an inch or two above the eggs.
3. Add the egg timer to the pot and then turn the stove on to Medium-High.
An egg timer can help to make sure you boil the eggs to the perfect doneness that you desire.

4. Bring the water to a boil and boil the eggs until the center of the egg timer turns white.
For SOFT BOILED eggs, boil it for 4-5 minutes.
For MEDIUM BOILED eggs, boil it for 7-8 minutes.
For HARD BOILED eggs, boil it for 9-12 minutes.
5. Add ice to a large bowl and then add cold water to the bowl.
When the eggs are done, placing them in an ice bath helps to stop the cooking process.
This is not a necessary step, but does help in making sure the eggs do not get over cooked.

6. Add the eggs into the ice-cold water in the bowl and let the hot eggs cool down.

7. Remove an egg from the ice-cold water and hit it against the countertop.
You can also crack the eggs prior to putting them into the ice-cold water. This helps the shells to be removed from the eggs easier.
8. Peel off the shells and dispose of them. If needed, rinse the eggs to get the shell residue off.
What is an egg timer?
This little doodad is the coolest thing to have in your drawer. It is smaller than an egg and is red when not in use.
On the timer, there are three different “settings” for what doneness you want the yolk to be.
As the time goes on, the egg timer turns white, with a ring of white showing up until the entire thing is white. The doneness is SOFT, MEDIUM, and HARD.
A 2-Pack Egg Timer on Amazon is $6.79.
