Instructions
Use a sink colander and rinse the dried split peas well, then place the rinsed split peas in the Crock-Pot.
Dice an onion on a cutting board and then place it in the pot.
Peel carrots, cut the ends off, and shred them using a Cuisinart Food Processor, then add to the Crock-Pot, OR dice the carrots into 1/4-inch chunks.
Dice the ham into 1/2-inch pieces and then place them in the Crock-Pot.
Mince the 4 garlic cloves and then add it to the Crock-Pot.
Place 2 teaspoons chicken base in the Crock-Pot and then fill to within 1-inch of the rim with water.
Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.
When done, let the Split Pea and Ham soup rest for 5 minutes before serving.
